Drivetrain
Powering the 2016 Harley-Davidson SuperLow 1200T is an air-cooled Evolution engine that displaces 73.4 cubic inches with a 3 inch bore and 3.811 inch stroke. Aluminum heads and cylinders lighten the load of the bike and improve overall air-cooling efficiency.
The Evolution engine smartly makes use of an electronic fuel injection system, which increases reliability and requires less routine maintenance. This particular engine, affectionately referred to as the Blockhead, has been in use since 1984 and is a testament to Harley-Davidson’s commitment to quality, especially when you consider that an engine developed more than 30 years ago still gets the job done.

Performance
At home on the street, the 2016 SuperLow’s 1200T’s agile frame and completely new suspension deliver a uniquely charismatic ride. Cartridge emulsion rear shocks and screw adjuster further dial in the handling, and there’s even a wrench tucked inside the seat to adjust the rear suspension exactly the way you like it.
Typical of Sportsters, the SuperLow 1200T features twin downtubes which form a double-cradle to support the engine on rubber mounts. In addition to looking pretty slick, this has the direct benefit of absorbing virtually all vibration caused during operation.
The bike’s low stature also contributes to its pleasurable performance. It sports just 4.2 inches of ground clearance. Its steering head angle measures in at 31.1 degrees, leaving the 1200T with 5.9 inches of rake, which translates to impressive straight-line ability and cornering. It’s worth mentioning that ABS ($795) is an available option.
Overall, the 2016 Harley-Davidson SuperLow 1200T’s performance and handling feels tight and right, bringing confidence to the ride and a grin to the rider.
