2016 Harley-Davidson® Dyna Fat Bob

New for 2016

The 2016 Harley-Davidson® Dyna Fat Bob has the same aggressive style and impressive features of earlier models, but with updated Tommy Gun mufflers and a new black machined aluminum slotted disc wheel.

A Motorcycle for Exploring the World

The 2016 Harley-Davidson® Dyna Fat Bob stands out as one of the finest street-legal motorcycles for bikers who like a bare-bones approach to exploring the world. The bike is equipped with a strong engine, thick tires and plenty of comfortable features. Bikers who like taking short rides around town will enjoy this motorcycle just as much as those who prefer to spend their weekends tearing down long stretches of road.

Powertrain and Performance

The 2016 Harley-Davidson® Dyna Fat Bob comes with an air-cooled Twin Cam 103 engine with a 9.6:1 compression ratio and 103.1 cubic inch displacement. Gasoline is delivered to the engine through electronic sequential port fuel injection (ESPFI), which helps ensure that it always receives the amount of gas the engine needs to meet performance demands.

Power is directed to the wheels via a 34/46 ratio chain. The 2016 Dyna Fat Bob has six gears to keep the driver in control at all times, even when confronting steep hills that require a little extra strength.

The Twin Cam 103 engine generates 99 lb-ft of torque at 3,000 rpm. Considering that the bike weights just 706 lb, this is a considerable amount of power, which makes the Dyna Fat Bob fun to ride.

Given the Dyna Fat Bob's thick tires, riders can feel free to indulge cravings for speed and power, even if they're enjoying an unwelcoming path that throws obstacles in their way.

Riders can expect to get an estimated 42 mpg, and with a fuel capacity of five gallons, the Dyna Fat Bob has a driving range of about 210 miles.* That keeps bikers on the road heading toward their destinations instead of waiting for their gas tanks to fill.

Features and Trims

The 2016 Harley-Davidson® Dyna Fat Bob starts at $15,899 and is available in one trim level, but it's possible to add some optional features to customize the bike.* The 2016 Dyna Fat Bob comes standard with black machined aluminum slotted disc wheels that are wrapped in thick tires to give the rider a comfortable experience even on bumpy roads.

Available as an optional feature, the Harley-Davidson® Smart Security System comes with a hands-free fob that automatically communicates with the motorcycle. As the rider approaches the bike, it senses the key fob and prepares for activity. When the rider walks away, however, the system automatically locks itself to deter thieves.

Harley-Davidson®'s engineers didn't forget about comfort when designing the Dyna Fat Bob. A two-point engine isolation mounting system lets the Twin Cam 103 work hard without sending annoying vibrations through the saddle. The bike also has fatigue-fighting handlebars and forward-mount controls that let riders stretch out during long hauls.

Design

The 2016 Dyna Fat Bob has one of the most aggressive designs of Harley-Davidson®'s current lineup. Much of this attitude comes from the front end, which features dual headlamps and a 16 in. wheel.

When it comes to decoration, the Dyna Fat Bob keeps things simple, with minimalist tank graphics. The bike's Tommy Gun exhaust with dual mufflers looks stylish while doing its job well.

Few things are more important than the 2016 Dyna Fat Bob's proportions. As the bike measures 94.5 in. long, riders of all skill levels can retain perfect control over this bike. Its 4.9 in. ground clearance also means that riders can take occasional off-road routes without getting stuck.

Those who enjoy taking long rides on their motorcycles will appreciate the Dyna Fat Bob's comfortable seat. The saddle has been readjusted slightly so riders can enjoy the scenery during long miles on the road. The seat height measures between 26.1 and 27.2 in. high.

The Dyna Fat Bob clearly wasn't designed to impress on the road; it's not the kind of bike that tries to stand out with fancy aesthetics. It will, however, get the attention of other riders who know how to spot design features that really matter.

Safety

Harley-Davidson® offers impressive safety features for the Dyna Fat Bob, including dual disc front brakes and an adjustable suspension. Anti-lock brakes are optional to help riders avoid unexpected obstacles on the road.

Bottom Line

The 2016 Harley-Davidson® Dyna Fat Bob isn't for people who just like to take leisurely rides on their bikes. It's for adventurers who want to stay in close communication with their motorcycles while they explore the world.

The Dyna Fat Bob is a reliable, fuel-efficient vehicle with a powerful engine. Few motorcycles in its class and price range can match its usefulness and minimalist beauty.
